Its failed its MOT !!, track rod ends? I know nothing about this but have a mate doing this for me but as yet I have had no price hes yet to price them up but he thinks abou £50-60 each and I need 4??, what do you think i should be looking at £££? is it LR dealer only to get bits?

Other fail points were a brake pipe and rear pads, is the rear pipe hard to do, i think its the whole thing?

She's a 2001 td5 auto, as always thanks for any views.

Paddocks offer Britpart and OEM quality. The price for the OEM quality stuff is about double, but still reasonable (not £50-60 for a track rod end, more like £10-15 or so). If they're seized (worth checking), then you might need a whole track rod if you can't unseize it.

Thanks chaps 6 replies in under 20 mins, wat a chuffin site this is, have rand mate and suggested shopping around and not ust settling for Main Stealer part even if means waiting for it to be delivered.
Cheers again Matt

When you shop around, don't dismiss the main dealer too. Sometimes/often their parts prices are competitive, and if its more convenient for you than mail order, etc...

track rod ends are nothing special are they??? I thought they were available from auto spare shops??? In fact i think they are!! Even at 25/30 quid per hour labour charge from a garage, the track rod should only take 30 minutes to do, not sure about the other on a disco. 6o quid for each one is a really good price (for the bloke fitting them!)

hi, did mine about 2 months ago, bought the ends from paddocks 30 quid for delphi [3 right hand thread and 1 left hand.]

if the ends are seized heat the rod where the thread enters it that should do the trick. When you fit the new ends use plenty of copper slip on the threads, job jobbed.

Again thanks all, have ordered the heavy duty ones £82.84 with delivery and vat, wonder how quick they will come?

For all you Disco lovers have alook at this, will post in general area as well as made me smile:) enjoy!
