Hill Descent

Hi,

Have recently purchased a disco 2, have gone to use the hill decent but doesnt appear to work, when you press the button the descent light on the dashboard flashes and the beep continues, any ideas?

Have you selected 'low' drive?

you need to be in low range.

As others have posted, stick it in "low" range and try again.

Thank you all, it has got to go in to have the low range stick sorted out so once its back i will give it a go

after playing out in the snow yesterday, playing around with the hill decent i knew it needed to be in low range but is there any way of making it also work in hi range, sometimes low is too slow and you end up using 2nd or 3rd in low when 1st in hi range would be the same speed with out having to stop and putting in lo range? just a thought.

The whole idea is to go slow hill decent is not really needed if you think you can go faster ?

What u want is doable by "tricking" the ECU that it's in low even if it's in high but in this case u'll overheat/wear out the brake discs / pads and the HDC will fade away cos it has a protection... it works in low to use the engine brake which is more powerfull then together with the ABS active brakeing. So using the HDC in hi range is not recommended.
