Ya need to remove the steering wheel first then air vents & dash console followed by all switches and heater controls open dash ashtray and cup holder to get at hidden screws.

Then remove screws in both footwells. and underneath glove box.

etc etc Basically you need to remove the entire dash. But if yu get hold of haynes manual or rave cd. All the destructions are in there.

There is a step by step guide for replacing the matrix via access from the rear of the fuse box area after removing the fuse box so it's without removing the dash, it's the way a main dealer would do it according to the guide as u can see the matrix if u look with a tourch, the job took around 1/2 hour to do.

U will have to search on the www it was in one of the UK LR Forums.

Your e-bay matrix looks the same, nice to have a part no though as there were three change points, but then I wouldn't be using a 16 year old second hand matrix with the work that's involved in replacing it what ever way you do it.

well As I see it the matrix is cattled so if I bugger up pulling it out it wont matter then I can normally put back together what i have pulled apart :)

mmmmmm difficult the matrix is free but sill fixed to the alloy pipse that go through in to rgw engine bay and I cant see how to get it past. Anyone got any ideas ?

From my memory of the Haynes manual for 300Tdi, it's dash out for 300Tdi - 200Tdi could be done in situ. Also defintely dash out if you have aircon - you'll need that drained before you start.

right dash is out old matrix is out heres trying to reassemble :) are there any o rings or anything at the join of the pipes ?
