Heater Matrix

Well i sold my 300TDi Disco a few months ago and wish i still had it.
Anyway i now have a tidy 3dr V8 sat on my drive. Its an early one 1990.
It has a few minor problems one being the heater matrix has been disconected.
I have had a quick search and found nothing. As i only got the car back 4 hours ago and it is -5 outside i havnt looked at it yet.

Anyone tell me how big a job it is, has the dash got to come out.

It's a big job and dash does have to come out. Good luck with it - mine was a pain in the arse to sort and I'm still not impressed with it!

While you've got it apart check the blower motor - the shaft seizes in the bearing eventually so if it hasn't been replaced before it might be about to go. The warning signs are the motor starts to squeal before it goes silent because it's not turning any more.

Not necessarily, my matrix is playing up and my local indy has said he can remove and replace it without removing the dash for £165 .... just wish I knew how he does it:doh:

I think maybe the 300tdi can be sorted with dash in but I would love to see how you could do it on the earlier 200tdi/v8 ones. If it's possible I would try and improve mine but don't fancy stripping it all out again unless it fails completely - let us know if you find out how!

See a post somewhere recently saying on a 300 the maxrix can be seen and the remove via the fuse box area takes an hour worth a look-see.

Mines not a 300 its an early V8.
