Morning all,

Firstly let me say that i have done my research on the subject of lifting a disco to fit bigger wheels and have read through the numerous posts on pro's and con's of various options. As some of these threads are up to 3 years old, i would just like a bit of upto date guidance and help please.

My car is a standard v8 disco - 95 m reg.

I've just bought a set of Insa Turbo Dakars on disco es alloys. 265/75/16

Now my understanding to fit these to the car i need to cut part of the rear arch (camel cut) and adjust the steering stops at the front.

Now if i wanted some extra clearance in the arches and to stop wheel rub etc what is my best option without doing a full 2" lift. (too much hassle and expense tbh)

1. fit new standard springs and 2" spacer blocks
2. fit new 50mm lift springs only
3. extended bump stops
4. or standard springs , spacers and new bump stops.

I'm not looking at making some serious offroader so don't want a full lift and all the extra bits that go with it so just looking at the other options available.

thanks for any help you can give me,

Carl

First off I think even though three years old the relevant threads will still be relevant. ;)

Your vehicle is more than three years old I believe  :D

Secondly what ever you do dont be too tempted to do this as "cheap" as posible i.e. in the corner cutting sense.
Some folk may well just weld in a home made spacer block but if it fails ..................................

they are 265/75/16

the threads are indeed relevant and full on lost of information that i've had a read through. Just wondered what would be recomended in this case.

I appreciate that things shouldn't be done as cheaply as possible and corners should neve be cut. But price wise there is a massive difference between the options.

4x new springs £50
4x spacers £50

or lift kit £250 +
all the other parts, radius arms, castor correction etc think i saw someone suggest all of this could be another £500+

I frankly do not have that sort of money and for the amount of use rthe car will get i don't need to go down this route.
so i would like to know what viable options i have,

many thanks

Contrary to popular belief you don't have to mess with your suspension in order to fit that size of tyre. Body surgery yes but otherwise standard springs will be fine unless you need big articulation.

ok thats great thanks for that. I guess that a little more spring height would allow some more clearance in the arches.

what about bump stops should i be replacing these?
