Hi there.
Been after a roofrack for the disco 300tdi for a little while now, and been watching eBay for something to take my eye.
Spotted this little one for the princely sum of 120 quid this evening, so I pounced.

However, I have been majorly put off by any roofrack where drilling is involved in fitting. Not only because my discos in good nick, but because I assume it makes it a bit of a pain to fit, and remove.

I will certainly be looking at fitting feet to the rack when I get it home, to make it simpler in future.

My questions are twofold?
1) Are these roofracks quite rare? (I've never seen them before, and the little landrover logo on the front makes me think, it's a genuine, and therefore quite a cool, item)
2) Anybody ever fitted one of these puppies? (And if so, can you tell me where you have to drill to get it fitted, since when I pick it up, I'm going to have to fit it to the roof, to get it home, so drilling will be inevitable).

Hope somebody can help me.
Here's the roofrack:
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SAFARI ROOF RACK FULL LENGTH | eBay UK

eBay item no. 320703514619

Thankyou.

PS. I've emailed the seller, and asked him about the drilling, but no reply yet.

Think you'll find thats a 'series' badge off an older vehicle. The rack looks a bit weak, I don't think it will have much weight capacity. It probably screws down to the gutters as a lot of older style racks used to.
Paul.

Indeed it does look a bit flimsy. Still at that price I thought it seemed a bargain. I'll report on it once of been to pick it up.

Yeh I see what you mean about the badges. I thought it was some sort of genuine early discovery roofrack, but possibly an aftermarket one, which someone has added series badges to. Ohwell, I'll see what it's like in person. I only intend to carry camping stuff, and a few bags on there really, nothing like spare wheels or a roof tent so should be adequite.

The only one to have is the proper G4 replicas from Safty Devices. Yes they are expensive but £300 or so is nothing for the work involved. I want a roof rack too and like you I keep searching fleabay but to be honest I will save and get the proper thing.

In the end you get what you pay for and regret cheap items.

Cheers
