Dear all with expertise in this area..

I have noticed that my disco has had a tendency to wander across the lane. Also when breaking it can occasionally pull either right or left. The tracking is perfect and the tyre pressure is perfect.

I am starting on the easy option, the bushes.. Unless I am missing something else? They have never been replaced and they are starting to look pretty bad on my 2000 Disco 2. So.. Before I buy them..

Is this a full ramp job or can this be done with the usual tool kit? I have heard bushes can be a nightmare to change, so any tips would be gratefully appreciated!

get poly bush kit any colour but not ones that look like cotton reels as nearly as hard as std bushes to fit ,split old bushes with hack saw and chisel out

Ive been led to believe you need a press for this which is putting me off doing my own suspension.... would i manage with just a bench vice??

I have a set of polybushes waiting to be fitted to my 2000 disco 2. But I am also put off because I don't know how to remove the std bushes. The only firm I know with a big a press are on the opposite side of town (the disco is my only vehicle). I have been told you can drill them out?
How much force do they really need?

There is a great video on youtube on how to remove rubber bushes using a flame torch. I have not dont this myself yet, but I am going to give it a try.. According to the video.. They use a Range Rover as a dummy vehicle... They use the Heat gun to heat thew rubber around the metal. As soon as it bursts into smoke(not flames) then they peel out using a screwdriver.. Apparently the heat breaks the seal..

I have not done this before.. I was looking at the video and it seems pretty straight forward, but I am not sure about the suspension ones..

Ebay have a Brit part Polybrush Kit for £100.. Seems alot!?!? Mind you, it is a complete replacement set for the Disco 2.

We got the bushes out of our 90 using a hole saw to cut the rubber and inner metal sleeve out and then hacksawed through the outer metal sleeve and knocked it out with chisel and hammer.

Then polybushes were easily put in with some copper grease and a vice.

I burnt inner of the bushes out with a blow lamp and then used a hacksaw to to cut out the outer part of the bush. Bit messy but didn't take to long. I would never recommend Britpart polybushes. Mine are wrecked after about 14 months and I'm going to have to replace them.

I have a britpart set which I got from one of the land rover parts sites. I did email Britpart to get an exact list of what is included in the set. They sent me a pdf list, but apparently it is too big to post on this site. pm with an email address me if you want it.

press for std bushes thats why i suggested poly bushes you only need a hammer

Cool... Might tackle this over summer along with replacing suspension... Hoping to get a new job and a company car so will make life easier!!

I'm beginning to think most things Britpart make are a little cheap and not worth it, shame as they're local to me when I'm in Shropshire and I'd rather buy local!!
