Hi all, i have started to strip the boot on my newly aquired Disco ready for its new floor. I noticed that the top fuel tank strap/cradle also needs replacing as its almost non existent.
After doing some extensive searching i have established that the old part number was
NTC7611
This part number has now been superseded by the part number
ESR2327
After searching for the part, the cheapest i can find it for is 50 odd pounds, is there anywhere else i can try?

I used some webbing from a lorry ratchit strap reinforced with steel on both ends, looks good, will not rot, cost very little and been mot twice since.

When I removed the old strap I tidyed some thin rope on one side to help me rethread the new strap, I fitted steel reinforceing on each end by heating up a bolt the same size as the new bolts , then burnt two holes on each side of the strap, i sandwiched the strap between steel plates on each side, ( you may wish to use repair washers instead ) took about 30 min to do. its been on for 2 1/2 years now. no probs. :D

My strap was gone completely when I took what was left of boot floor out. Cheapest replacement was £69 although they couldnt say when they could get them in. He suggested making something instead of buying!
Is it needed for MOT - mine has clearly been missing for years and its not come up !

I think it depends on how good the mot tester looks, i was a tester about 10 years ago if i thought it was not fit for the job then i would fail it . its stops the tank bumping about off road too. have a go at makeing one, mine is on a 94 300tdi disco.
