Sounds like it's doing the same as mine was a couple of months, if it's a Disco 2 (you don't say) change the fuel pump or you could try the filter first and see if that makes any difference.

yeah disco 2 .. last sevriced 4k miles ago although did put new oil , oil filter and air filter this weekend after blanking egr..

ok will try that, thankyou .. however not looking forward to the 35 min bus ride to nearest supplier lol

£245.58 plus vat and £17.50 plus vat for the filter ..

a friend just called and said it may be the injector seals ?? wtf

WOW i think my pants have been pulled right down ,

amazing thanks never thought of ebay

whats the thoughts on injectors seals

it's worth a try mate, a set only costs about £15 so you're not risking a lot by doing it and it may be the cause of your probs.

right guys ,, thanks for all your advice really appreciate it . i have put new fuel filter on although it was pretty dirty it hasnt made any difference, ecu is clean (red plug) o rings are fine on the injector harness, i couldnt get any injector seals so havent done that , it starts with easy start , but doesnt tick over unless **** loads of revs even then very lumpy which im thinking would suggest fuel pump (???) or some kind of fueling problem .. i did turn ign on press pedal 4-5 times before turning over which i am advised should bleed/prime system , i can hear the pump making its strange electronic whirring noise when ign is on , any more words of wisdom would be great

thanks again

Does pump sound like there is air going through it ? this could indicate injector seals, the bad news is if it has been like this for a while the pump may need doing too they dont seem to like the air going back have seen seals done then pump packing up within couple hundred miles. Dont mean to be a kill joy but beware of very cheap pumps have seen them fail very quickly, some never get proper pressure and can be noisy but not saying they are all like that see what you can get an oe one for.

now then it does sometimes make a sqelchy noise but more electronic than wet squelch i know that isnt going to describe it lol i must be stupid, but suppose it could sound like air pushing back thru the wrong way if that makes sense

well guys just for you information .. it would seem i have diesel bug .. obviosly condensation or water has aloud the micro organisms to flourish resulting in at least an inch of gunge/sludge in tank hence blocking and causing fuel pump to fail . . replaced fuel pump replaced filter again cleaned tank out with treatment from millers oils primed/bled system but still wont run will start but not run properly .. am i right in guessing that maybe my injectors are goosed

any help please............

It's called Micro Biological Growth, when I was in the navy this was the worst thing your could get in your fuel but then we had compensated fuel tanks, pumping sea water in to the tank as fuel was sucked out.

By the sounds of it your whole fuel system is contaminated with the stuff and will need flushed out (from the pump to the injectors and back to the tan) by a garage that knows what it is dealing with.

Sorry for the bad news.

yeah makes sense apart from the 300 quid to buy a pump lol

:eek::eek::eek: Genuine Land Rover pumps on Ebay for £200 !!!!!!

Incidently, before you spend any more money, did you know that there is a gauze filter in the base of the fuel pump which can get cacked up and needs cleaning?
