Default fuel gauge

hi all
just got car back after 5 days at local garage for fuel gauge reading zero with warning light on,tank has been removed and a new sender unit fitted, the garage have put 40 of diesel in the tank, when i picked up the vehicle the gauge was showing almost empty, the mehanic said when it was road tested the gauge read 1/2 a tank, the tank has now been filled to the top and still only reads at 1/2 a tank and all this after a bad dose of the 3 amigos, has anyone got any ideas????i am considering a mountain bike instead

Working on the basis you've paid them to solve the problem, send it back 'cos they haven't.
