I've been reading my Haynes manual to see if there is any way of improving my car heater and I came across the `Fuel burning Auxillary Heater' that is fitted to some Disco 2's (and apparently Disco 3's) but unfortunately not my disco 2 - anyone know if its a possible retro-fit one and if so how ?

If you want a cheap way of geting your hands on one of these heaters the VW sharan [peoplecarrier] have them fitted in the rear of them so go to the scrap yard

It's a way of heating the coolant to get the engine up to temp quicker thats all, it does not "improve" the heating in the car as such, just the time it takes to "get there"

I saw one of those `pre-heaters' in last months (Jan 2011) edition of Land Rover Owner - cost was over £1000 new, but then you could operate that one from your key fob to warm up the engine whilst still lying in bed... :D
