what sort of options are there for putting on some front spot lights ? does it have to involve drilling or are there standard holes there somewhere ?

any links of good ones to buy for reasonable price with fitting kit etc as thats gonna be my christmas present to it lol

any help appriciated or pics of your disco with them etc

cheers

Here's a pic no drilling with an (A) bar, u can fit a lamp bar or direct to a bumper but both options involve drilling.

so any advice as to what sort/brand of spot lamps to get ?? is it best to get ones with a grill over the glass ?

Mine are Hella driving lamps they came with the stone guard, (some lamps do) and were fitted by land Rover, which ones depends on what you want pay and the size.
It's a bit of a mine field as there is so many to choose, just search eBay and you will see.
Wiring for the lamps is straight forward.

a smart magnetic remote control one on ebay that looks fun but £130 !!

il get looking and post some up

are the roof bars with 6 lights on any good ? or look a bit too off roady do you think ?

I'm in the process of fitting some to mine. I decided to buy a black A bar, similar to this:

A Chrome SPOTLIGHT BAR Landrover Discovery 1 2 200 300 on eBay (end time 18-Dec-10 21:07:41 GMT)

I also bought a pair of these:

WIPAC 8" 4x4 100w Off-Road Driving lamp set inc Grilles on eBay (end time 02-Jan-11 10:45:38 GMT)

The spots don't come with any wiring but you can buy wiring kits from that same seller. I didn't as I wanted to wire mine differently so instead popped to maplins and bought what I needed.

If you're comfortable with a simple wiring diagram, it's nothing you could't easily do in a weekend.

Hope it goes well.

nice one mate, i saww them wipac ones on ebay earlier, was also looking at the roof bar with 4 spot lights on and wondering what they are like to drive with ? but then look very off roady for a mainly road car ? might go for 2 spot lights on front, and a remote control magnetic one to keep in the boot for fun when off road lol

got the jan land rover monthly magazine, and looking through that, and online..im realising theres so much you can buy for a disco and 4x4 adventuring, brilliant !!

fink its all a bit silly myself - unless yu are going out lamping - more peeps complain of glare from overhead lights than anything - just get a couple of spots on the front of yo motor.

wouldnt drive with them on on the road, just fro off road when no other cars/people about, and camping use etc , im not in to lamping but some of my mates are mind

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the 100w ones I bought are not road legal, although they do the same Wipac lights with road legal bulbs, 55W I think...?

I bought mine only to be used with main beam but have wired in a switch so that I can have them on with main beam or off and just use my main beam as normal.

Depends on what your usage is going to be as The Mad Hat Man mentions.

well i have them the same on my other cars...to be turned on/off with a switch, find that the best way as you dont need to use them that often, and mostly when no other cars around, so 100w when needed would be

Wont stop the glare all over the windscreen and bonnet - a single lamo would, i have thought, be better for lamping.
