obviously depends its easy if you done a few ,but you need to remove 5th layshaft gear and rev layshaft gear and main casing spread two shafts apart remove old input shaft swap brgs refit new one

hmm no point then because its 5th and reverse that have failed in my box:(

''what has your old 5th gear got to do removing 5th on your new box to fit input shaft''

i dont have new box yet only ones that i can get quickly are the tdi ones, no point in having to strip a new box, would be just as well fixing old one,not keen on taking box to bits lol, prob a bit beyond my skills:)

going against the grain, would an lt77 box fit as a tempory box till i find an r380 as i can get one local to me and need the truck on the road again

If both the LT77 and the R380 are fitted to the same engine from a Discovery then they are a nut and bolt straight swap. You will have to swap over speedo sender housing and handbrake as they both differ between the two boxes.
