I bought my 300tdi in a run down state and have proceeded to restore it and get an MOT

The arches and doors although intact dont look the best, so I purchased a set of plastic arches as per the link below

http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/DISCOVERY_1/Accessories/Plastic_Wheel_Arch_Kit_-_5dr_with_cut_out_for_side_mouldings.html

The arches look the part, but the instructions that came with them are useless

What I received is the 6 pieces of arches to suit my 5 dorr, plus a long roll of rubber edging

Has anyone fitted a set of these arches before and can give some duidance on how to fit the arches?

Do they need bonding on? Where does the rubber edging go?

Thanks

Ade

I assume you mean 'XS' style arches and not flexible extended arches?

Extended arches are evidently screwed on, but xs arches are most likely bonded on.

Factory arches are stuck on with long rolls of double sided tape, but sikaflex/tiger seal is ideal for retrofitting arches that have no screw holes.

Cheers

I would say the rubber edging sits between the plastic arch and the body panel to give a neat finish.

The way I would fit them:
Is to mark where they fit against the bodywork then gently abrade the paintwork behind where the arch covers with a scotch pad (scourer) then degrease it. Do the same to the back of each plastic arch and bond it on with a PU sealant/adhesive (sikaflex) I would use a strong 2” masking tape to hold each arch in position while the adhesive cures as I doubt it will hold in position otherwise.
