Does any one know much about fitting 35'' tyres to a disco, cause not to sure of how much lift to go for, so they don't rub when on full articulation. i was thinking of going for a 4'' lift (+2'' springs and 2'' spring spacers). and most probably +2'' bump stops.

If u have done it pics would gd :D

Cheers ian

spring and shock lift +2"
+2" body lift
trim the wheel arches
flexi arches
cranked trailing arms
cranked radius arms
wide angle props
steering uj shaft
gear stick n t'box stick needs to be extended
longer brake lines
start thinking reinforced halfshafts and CV's.

a defender t'box might help

yeh i found out about them the othere day. do u think i should try and find one of the 1.6 ratio ones out of a 110 or just go for the 1.4 out of a 90?

also does any one think if that kind of lift will be ok?

cheers ian

I would put a 1.4 in,
Is this disco your everyday motor ??
If so I would rethink what you are doing and why you need such big tyres

If it was me I'd do a 2" spring n 4" shocks 1" body lift extend brakes fit flex arches and a set of 33" tyres or 285,75,16

It's just goin to be an offroader maybe the odd journey. I just much prefer the look of 35's
So would I definitaly have to do a body lift, cause didn't really won't to bother with that, I would rather just lift it 4inchs and cut the arches as far as possible.

Cheers Ian

4" lift is giving one hell of an angle for your prop shaft joints to work at.

Plus, it will handle like you're driving with a rhino on the roof.

LOL. so with a body lift what needs spacers or extending, as far as i know its, the body mounts, rad, brake hoses and steering.
also can u buy all the parts u need or do u have to make some of it?

cheers for all the replys ian

As said, the transfer and gearbox levers will also need extending.

AFAIK, there is a seller on ebay that does all bits needed from the bolts and spacer bushes, to the extensions for the levers.

Don't expect an easy job though. Body mount bolts are notorious for seizing, and you'd be well advised to penetrate all bolts with spray daily for a week before you attempt to loosen them, and still expect to have to add heat, or grind off one or two.

You may find that you need to replace a body mount or two aswell, as they're prone to rusting.
