hi all,

i have got a 1997 300tdi discovery today on the way to work when i tried to accelerate it would not go above 2 thousand rpm it sounded like it was stuck on a rev limiter also the temp rose to above normal , this lasted about 10 mins then the temp dropped to normal then was also able to go above 2 thousand rpm , have had the car about 4 months , not sure on the service history on it . runs fine apart from today. any advice welcome as new to land rovers, thanks in advance:eek:

will do , most odd how it only did it for a short while then was fine . had my foot pumping on accelerater but made no differance,

ok fuel filter not a problem , after reading a few posts the other day had a look for the sedimenter drivers side back axle ????? must be well hidden, just new seals on this isn't it , will it need to be a specialist for the seals or should most car placs do them

have a look at post no 9 in this fred http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/wots-wrong-my-200tdi-disco-130396.html

you can get the seals from any 4x4 supplier but I've never changed mine just reused the old one.

just been out and had a quick look can not see any linkage to the injection pump and there is a black box attached to the air inlet pipe

ok changed the fuel filter and cleaned the sedimenter, the sedimenter had a bit of crap in the bottom and some jelly like stuff but not a lot of it . when i took the fuel filter off it did not look full of fuel is this right ??

that will be the next thing to try if it does it again . also flushed out the heater matrix today and fitted new thermostat , nice and toastie now , did notice a lack of water when disconnecting pipes though that was a bit worrying
