Hello,
I'm just about to buy a Faultmate MSV-2 Extreme, hopefully to diagnose faults on my 2002 Discovery. Can anyone who has used or has one of these devices tell me if it is capable of calibrating the ACE g sensors.

Thanks

hi, i was up to go for faulmate some time ago then i bought a hawkeye......i've studied the msv capabilities and saved o a copy then.....according to it u must be able to do what u want....i dunno how's their policy now but as far as i know the ACE coverage was optional, if u've added this option to yours or if now it's by default then >>>

SM032 - LUCAS ACE - Diagnostic Capabilities (Other)Choice of functions that can be performed.
.........................
"ECU self calibration: Both the upper and lower accelerometers are subject to alignment and offset errors in their zero 'g' position. Before the ACE system can operate correctly the sensor positions must be stored in the ECU. The stored values are used as the initial offset in the accelerometer zero tracking algorithm. If the offset is not corrected the vehicle may have a permanent lean or generate an error depending on the value. The ACE ECU will remove small errors in the offsets during normal driving. However to calibrate the accelerometers at any time, especially when a new ECU is fitted, use this function."

Hi,
Thanks for that, in the mean time I've decided to buy one and bought the
sv226 kit which includes the ACE diagnostics, so hopefully it should do
what I want.

Once again thanks for taking the time.

Hi
I have the older msv unit, i purchased it when i had the p38. When i swapped to this car in febuary this year i asked them to change the license for this car. The sm032 module came with the complete software bundle, they charged me £50.00 for the change over.
As i have never had to use it for the ace (and hopefully never will have to use it) i have checked on the Black Box owners forum to see if the accelerometers can be calibrated, and its saying that they can. Although some people are saying that the main relay has to be energized first to do it.
Hope this helps
Mark

Thanks Mark,
I've now received my new Faultmate MSV-2. Just waiting for Blackbox to get back to work after christmas so that I can activate the relevant modules.
Then it's playtime.
