any one any ideas as to why im getting through so much diesel i've got a 300tdi auto and in the last couple of months i've noticed a sudden increase in the ammount of fuel im getting through....thing is im not doing any more miles than before all tyre pressures are correct and im not flooring it any help tips or suggestions gladly aprreciated thanx:confused:

information helps. no data = no solution..

what were you getting before.

what are you getting now?

have you fitted new tyres

done any work on it
changed your route to include a big hill

have you taken into account the recent 50p a gallon price rise??

right was getting about 25mpg before now i reckon im getting about 18,putting exactly same amount of fuel in a week 30 (litres) tyres are exactly same as before only thing i can think of is that im overdue a service

where do you buy your fuel from if its tescos asda or sansburys its probably damaging your engine as the fuel is full of stuff that isn't in normal fuel like shell, texico, and the rest.

Dino diesel has more naptha in it in winter to stop waxing, and winter mix has less energy so will give less mpg-whether it will drop that much is another question

If you are still putting in the same amount of fuel (30 litres) then surely you are still only using the same amount:confused:

You talking about Bio blends ???? - All Diesel sold in UK conforms to European spec EN590, which allows up to 5% of bio-fuel to be blended. At the mo, I think everyone selling fuel in the UK has to have a minimum of 3.5% bio - All to do with UK meeting its green commitments... yada.. yada...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Supermarket fuels is just as good/bad as any other, as typically - they all supply one another. Out of interest - have you changed where you fill up recently as you may find that some companies have a higher bio blend than others and this may impact a bit on mpg.

Agree that winter spec is deffo less effective mpg wise. Winter spec diesel should go to -15 I think before it waxes but I bet at -10 and below its turning gloopy ..... We've had a consistent run of temperatures in this ball park recently

Reckon you've got to eliminate all the obvious.... Overdue service, rule out fuel leak etc and then post again with results.

Perhaps milder weather that we starting to see may help too.

Also....you been towing any softroaders out recently ???...... sure this would have an adverse impact on the mpg :D

at the Mo £30 =23ltr = 5.09gall so now standing at £6 per gallon  That's at 129.9ppl

if like some peeps your paying £135.9 or more then that pushes it to

£30 = 22ltr = £4.84 gall = £6.20 per gall
