engine faliure

hi everyone i have a 300tdi disco 97 fly by wire having real probs with what im told was the potentiometer while driving its fine but when i even slightly lift my foot of the accelerator the engine dies but then comes back when i press it again tried used pots same then got a new one still the same was told could be the maf changed that still the same help me pls its doin me head in

does it start ok and is there any smoke when driving?does it still have all its power and are you running on "normal" diesel?

sometimes struggles but put that down to starter motor picks up lovely while driving just when i slightly depress the accelerator then the check engine sign comes on and its like the engine dies but doesnt stall it goes to idle.

hi all got a prob with power steering when going thru puddles even at crawling speed it goes stiff and you cant even turn the wheel and ive noticed a brown gunk which looks like its coming out of the back of the pump can anyone tell me what this is and how to fix it gets a bit scary when going round corners many thanks guys

Sounds like its overheated. Replace all the fluid.

ok cool ill give it a go hopefully cheap easy fix

Hi Loonytune, just a suggestion but normally you would have a thread for each different problem. Makes it easier to answer plus it's better for others when using the "Search" feature.

Right, your pas issue, what is happening is that water is affecting the fan belt and so the pas pump is temporarily losing drive. Consider replacing your fan belt.
