I have a Disco TD5 ES manual 2004. It has started blowing the 10 Amp fuse which protects the power fold mirrors and the climate control unit/front air con blower. it is listed as Fuse 31 in the owners manual.

The fault occured immediatley after i had a new front screen fitted so i do not know wether this has caused it or i have just been unlucky!

The fuse blows instantly when the ignition is turned on. I have disconnected the control unit for the aircon, and i am assuming it wont be the power to the mirrors as a relay usually comes up when i operate the controls for the mirrors so i am guessing no relay operation no power to the mirrors?

I can read a dead short on the wire leading off from the fuse. I have ordered a Haynes Comic to see if there is any info' on the wiring but would appreciate any input you guys could give.

Thanks in advance

Gordon

The output of fuse 31 goes to three connectors(one is the A/C ECU which u said u've already disconnected, to isolate the defect u have to disconnect the other two separately, put a multimeter setted on ohm between earth and the fuse output and see when the resistance rise to max.......first disconnect C0794(the in-car temp. sensor... it is near the fusebox) then, if the short still persists C0765(behind the glovebox...fascia harness to heater harness). U can see the connector disposals in RAVE > electrical library > connector views. I hope u have RAVE, if not take some time and download it from here> land rover rave technical system u have the diagrams there too

A big thank you to Sierrafery for the link to Rave. :clap2:

I traced the short to Connector 5987 pin 8, this wire goes to header 0289 and splits, one leg going to the Mirror fold ECU and the other to a redundant connector which is marked up as going to the rear air con switch.

As the wire was very difficult to get at i cut it at both ends and ran a new cable to the Mirror Fold ECU. A new fuse and Bingo everything works :)

I can only guess at how the wire ended up with a short on it.
