Hi,

One of my headlight adjusters has snapped off. I anticipated it to be an easy DIY job but there's something that puzzles me. I see that all Discovery TD300 (1996) headlight adjuster kits comprise 3 mechanical units.

Mine has two mechanical units at the top and one electric at the bottom. Is it a posh car or what??? See the pic at the bottom :)

I found the part number on the thingy and confidently resorted to searching on the web. Having typed in ppe+pa-gf20 I was given a good selection of Chinese polyethilene granules... umh... not exactly what I need.

Do you know where can one get a replacement part and what is its actual name? My closest Landy breaker is 15 miles away and my car is partially disassembled, so, a mail order would make much more sense at the moment.

Or can I take this thing apart and attempt to weld the arm back on? Nah, probably not.

You can take the motors out and leave it as a manual adjust. That was the base-model,the electric was an extra.I have fitted a few of these and in my experience when the plastic degrades, thats it,finished. There IS a new plastic part available for socket end of the adjuster set up but as far as the motors go....nada.If you reckon you can take it apart and mend or fabricate a new arm I dont see why you shouldnt. Its not like they have to bear a lot of weight. However, you must be able to get a better price on e bay,surely....look for a breaking disco rather than the part and contact the seller.

Folks, can you please confirm that I'm not wrong :) I ordered a spare motor from a popular Landy breaker and he sent me, emh, a broken part... At least I think it is broken but before I go and give him abuse I'd like to make sure I'm right.

Well, the metal arm on this replacement part is not solid. If you pull it, it actually pops out. I mean, it must be broken because as it is, it is able to push the headlamp out but, how the heck will it pull it back? The arm should be solid (in one piece), right?
