Hi all,

Bought myself an EGR blanking kit and fitted it this afternoon....

I have read many threads on this topic and i know the jury is out as regards the benefits, however in my opinion the disco just seems to 'breath' a bit easier and feels as though its running a bit smoother.

Could not believe the amount of s**t in the inlet... it was like thick sludge almost tar... surprised any air was getting through at all

Will see what the long term benefits are....

SP ;)

Yip have done it to a few now best results are if the inlet manifold is cleand as well.

Yeah... i cleaned as much as i could out of the inlet manifold. And also of course there was the EGR valve itself causing an obstruction, that too was all gunked up

The whole installation was very easy and the EGR pipework came away with no problems at all... looks nice and tidy.

Will see how it goes...

SP ;)

It probably makes no difference if the valve is working properly. However they do get stuck open (not surprising if you think of the operating conditions and length of time they've been working for) - if that has occurred then you will get a dramatic improvement.

Britpart is the one I use and it dose improve mpg but not as much as some think but every gain is a plus :hippie:

Hi, thinking of getting myself a blanking kit. Just wondering do i need to tell my insurance company?
I doubt if anyone on here has. Since some dealers are known to fit them, you can argue they are a standard fitting I suppose. Plus they don't affect the performance (unless there's something wrong with the valve, which there usually is). If you just fit the blanking plate it's invisible anyway, and unless you have had the car from new you could argue that it was like that when you bought it and you knew nothing. :D

Insurers will tell you different, any alteration from the factory specification is classed as a material fact, even dealer fitted manufacturers options, so should be notified to the insurance company unless it's on any list of exemptions they may have. And it's irrelevant whether it improves performance, I know someone that awful problems with his insurer for failing to notify them of a galvanised chassis on his series.
