Re: Discovery wont start.
I had the same prob with me mates disco swapped fuses relays and light stalks/ hazard switches all to no avail after a bit of prodding and a lot of cursing I discovered that the ignition switch was getting a live supply to it while switched to position 1 & 2 but lost?? the live when switched to the cranking position. I cured it by cutting away the insulation from the live supply to the hazard switch. As this is permanently live. and did the same thing with the ignition live. then spliced a wire across both wires. It's been fine ever since.

Thanks, I see what you mean but the switch does work in position 1 & 2 just not for everything, example if I turn the wipers on, they switch on and off when I turn the key on and off, so I suppose it is either one circuit within the switch or a fuse.

Try a temporary live supply to the back of the ignition switch Brown/white wire IIRC, and see if that cures the problem

Will try that tommorrow, thanks.
Don't suppose you know where these fuses are for me to try as well ? Just incase I draw a blank with the ignition switch.

Re: Discovery wont start.
If you have a look at the attached picture of the lefthand side of the engine bay, you will see some cables which are wrapped in a sort of gauze material.
I've been led to believe (never looked myself) that there are one or more main fuses within that wrap.
Now, is that clear and helpful enough for you !!!
