Hi

I have done some work on my 300 tdi including new lift pump, starter motor, fuel filter, glow plugs and glow plug timer relay however the glow plug light only stays on for about a second and then goes off so it winds over a lot before it starts.

Any thoughts on how to get the glow plugs to stay on for longer

Thanks in advance

What year is your Disco? If it has EDC then there is a temp sensor in the cylinder head that "does things" to do with cold starting. This sensor could be faulty or just the wire on it disconnected. The sensor is under the rubber coverthi ng on top of the engine, about half way back, as you look from the front it is to the right of the rocker cover, left of the manifolds. It is easy to check its electrical connection.

THe sensor in the head half way along is the water temp.sensor for the ecu.there is another at the rear of intake manifold by the bulkhead, air temp. try renewing these ,mine seems to start first time now.
