discovery lights failure

i have a discovery 200tdi 1991 reg, in the pass few day whilst driving at night all the head lights, side lights and dash board lights go out, they come back on after a few seconds, can anyone suggest the cause and remedy.

Have you checked the condition of the Fusible Links in the main battery +ve cable.
About 400mm from the battery +ve terminal towards the bulkhead.
Undo the taped wrapping and basically sort out what you find.
Chances are they are corroded, common fault.
Could also be a faulty main body earth connection.

A 91 200tdi disco doesn't have fusible links in the battery cable. Good luck finding the cause the old disco electrics are notorious for this sort of thing.
