discovery 2 td5 bottom pulley problems

i have been running my discovery 2 td5 2004 for 12 months today came out started it and there was a almighty rattle turned engine off opened bonnet to find bottom pulley damper jammed against rad fan so fridays job is to replace bottom pulley and damper and replace rad fan how long do you think it will take and do you think it will be safe to drive until friday as the parts are only coming on thursday it a looks a straight forward job but we will see

I would not advise driving it tbh, the torsional damper is there for a reason due to the natural imbalance of a 5cyl engine. As far as the job goes, this should help

Its not an unusual problem BUT getting the new nut on is not easy because you need to lock off the crank and the torque is massive and you need to put on a new nut.

What makes bottom pulley go

Well all parts ready to go on bottom pulley Inc damper cheapest I could get was £411 and a new fan £56 so let's see how long it will take
