well after getting the car and changing to an itg filter and taking off the egr valve :Di thought i would fit me luvlee stainless decat front pipe. Its a long time since i was under a car but hey under it i got. all was going well with the dismantle job until i tried to take the existing front pipe out. cant be done!!!:confused: if its not the crossmember getting in the way its the clutch slave cylinder. so i,m standing there scratching me nut :confused:wondering how to do it when it finally dawned on me!!!!!:doh:

can anyone advise me please. don't want to pay someone to do me bolt on bolt off jobs if i can help it. many thanks
 
Hi did mine 2 weeks ago you will have to remove the front cross member my bolts were seized on so i had to cut them off and while i was at it i fitted a stainless middle through pipe sounds more meaty now...Hope this helps....Tony
 
sounds about right tony. i had a little go at the cross member but couldn't shift the bolts. thanks for the help.
 
I planned to do this ages ago and hit the same problem with the cross-member bolts so gave up.
Wagon went into local garage to replace leaking fuel lines above tank this week so asked the guy to sort these out on both the cross members and the rear exhaust bolts which had also seized. Charged me a bit on top of the labour for the pipes and now have nice new stainless allen-head bolts on the cross-members.
If you're having any work done that means ramping or pitting the car, get them to do this as it will save a LOT of aggro later.
