disco1 cant change gear

hi i was suddenly unable to change gear in my disco1 300tdi, i had it in low range diff lock at the time.i can put it in to gear with the engine turned of start it with the clutch down and pull off and stop normally but not change gear when engine running there's a slight wiring noise now when driving.would be grateful for any idear's

Try puting it back in low pull hard on the transfer gear sector they can some times stick in neutral as for the wirr noise is the green light on the dash still or did you put the diff lock on if it is reverse for a few meters befor trying to pull off.

Sounds like it is stuck in neutral a prank I pull on the wife sometimes.

cheers for the advise gazdav but i now think it might be the clutch after speaking to me mates uncle who it turns out is a landrover mechanic

might be worth checking your clutch slave cylinder too
