Hi all
Does anybody get a groaning/whirring noise from depressing the clutch on cold start up. It's embarrassing when pulling off at the traffic lights selecting gear & this groaning kinda whirring noise comes. Driving fine elsewise, gear changes smooth. I'm finding myself leaving the disco tick over on the drive for 10 mins before I go to work in the mornings & this prevents the noise once warmed up a little. Any ideas people much appreciated.

A number of other possibles - the likelies are:
Worn clutch release bearing
Worn clutch plate bushes
Faulty pressure plate assembly
Broken pressure pllate diaphram spring
Broken clutch disc cushioning spring.

Hope this helps

I did have a recon gearbox fitted two years ago along with new clutch & flywheel. I noticed this noise very slightly and took it back to the lr indi. In which he told me does the noise go away, if so don't worry about it. But since then (2 years) it's a lot louder now and more noticeable. I would feel a right prick taking it back to him now to say sort it. In which his reply would probably be get ****ed anyways.

I think its caused by the spigot bush becoming worn, £1 for the new bush but have to remove engine or drop gearbox to get at it
