I recently bought a disco 95' with a 300tdi engine. when i bought it the car was running fine just the engine was a little lazy because the car has been standing for a while. then the problems started,.... when i start the engine cold the light for oil pressure goes out after about ten seconds while the engine is running,... but if i start it with a warm engine it goes out after about a sec. the engine became quite noisier after two weeks,.... and somehow it still doesnt have the power it should have(having tried another disco). does anybody have any idea what the problem might be? or where to start fixing it? thx

have oil pressure checked or swap switch just to be sure of oil pressure ,has it started to knock at engine speed or half engine speed ,a knock with low oil pressure is a rebuild ,but also could be knackered vac pump

Start with the obvious - check the oil level. Someone had similar issues, and upon investigation, hadn't checked the oil level after their oil light came on.

I've changed the fuel filter, oil filter, the oil, the oil level is sufficient. And replaced a worn turbo hose,...is it possible the oil pump is wornout and it needs some time to build up pressure? Where is the oil pump located? what is an OK compession on these engines? thx

hi guys

thx for the help,... turns out the oil pump gear was worn out and the oil leaked thru when standing for a longer time,... replaced it and it works fine
