Evening,

Am hoping someone might be able to help with a misfire problem i am having.

I have a lpg converted 4.0 d2 with 73000 miles.

I went away last weekend and left the disco for a friend to use, came home on the monday jumped into the disco and straight away i could tell there was something wrong it seemed very rough, went to take it home a it seemed to drive ok but seemed down on power,

Next day when the car was cold i tried to drive it and wouldn't pull up my drive seems as if its backfiring badly and running really rough.

Plugged my rovacom in and it showed a misfire on cyl 2,4,6,8. i checked the fault codes and it came up with:-
catalyst damaging misfire,
Emission relivent misfire cyl 2 + 4 + 6 +8
Lamba upstream bank b fault

I have a 4.6 p38 with a thor engine fitted so i stole the coil pack and fitted that to the disco,
no improvement.

The disco had new plugs and leads (magnecor 8mm) fitted less than 1000 miles ago

On the off chance i unplugged the maf to see what happened and it improved it so i bought a new maf and fitted that, problem stayed the same no improvement at all

The disco will idle ( rough tho ) until its warm then it will drive ok but still not right, lpg seams better than petrol.

with the maf unplugged and rovacom plugged in it shows up a misfire on cyl 4 +8 so i changed the plug in cyl 4, no change, unplugged the lead and put a different plug in and touched the block to check for a spark and its fine.

I know my cats have a rattle but could that cause a problem?

Anybody have any ideas what to look at next

Thanks
Russ

easily if drivers side is blocked 2468 been on that side, lpg isnt controlled by efi so less effected, poor spark it would be more effected, some have a lamba sensor both sides of cat with first tuning fueling second checking its working
