disco de cat pipe

Hi all just fitted a defender down pipe to my 300 tdi disco and blanked the egr pipe of and fitted a k&n air fillter and whot a difrence it makes engine a lot more responcive and pulls 5 gear from 25mph so should be more economical also got a 300tdi sports exhaust from paddocks total cost abought 100 pound but worth the expence next mod a big intercooler ps defender down pipe fitted my disco no problem at all just jack up the body up to get more clerance on the side the down pipe is on paddocks said defender pipe wont fit a discovery but it will do as i had no problem at all and saved abought 40 pound bt not having the flexi pipe in the down pipe witch in turn paid for the compleat exhaust with no middle box in but not much difrence in exhaust note

Sometimes the defender decat pipe takes a bit of jiggling to get it to fit right but on the whole it's a straight forward fit as you have discovered.

Some people also set up their injection pump for more power as well. Do a search, the correct procedure is well documented & can add quite a few extra ponies.

thanks for the info on the pump i have already seen it on the net and am going to do it when i get a big intercooler then set it all up at the same time

You may find that by comparison to the cost-effective mods you have done and enjoyed up to now, paying for a new intercooler at £300-400 is a lot less payback for your money.

would having a larger intercooler really make that much difference to the performance and economy

no ! That's the point !!! You might spend £400 on an intercooler and the difference you will percieve in your daily driving will be minimal.

Any indications on the economy front yet?
