Hey all, just wondered if anybody could help me out with my Discovery ignition fault. For the last few weeks when i switch the ignition on,sometimes the instrument panel doesn't light up and the vehicle won't turn over, switch on and off a few times and the ignition comes on and starts no problem. This morning however the ignition wouldn't come on at all but the radio worked and the light panel on gear selector was illuminated.I noticed the red LED on the steering column shroud flashed very fast when ignition was in the on position, could this be an immobilizer fault??? can the immobilizer be by-passed if so???
Any guidance will be much appreciated, thanks all.

Knowing what year it is would help. I'm guessing that you have a spider fault. A bypass lead is available if you do have a spider.

LED on the steering column shroud? are you sure as that will be a non standard fitment so who knows what it's for... immobilizer may be but who's.

With a standard Land Rover immobiliser you wouldn't be able to crank the engine if it was active, could be that you have an iffy ignition switch.

Single or two button fob??

it's a two button fob,one smooth button and one with a padlock.the engine doesn't crank but there is power from the ignition switch because other electrics work.do they have a relay or control unit for immobilizer?
thanks for your help by the way....

Ok so if you are locking/unlocking ok with the fob that eliminates any problem with the fob, so yes you have an immobliser fault it can be overridding by entering your emergency access code via the drivers door lock temporary untill you find out what is wrong.
