Unhappy Disco 3 problems

I took delivery of a new Discovery 3 in January, and was very impressed with it for all of 2 weeks. Then the air suspension started to play up & failed 3 times in following 2 weeks. LR dealership has now agreed to replace it, but in the meantime the Disco they lent me has suffered the same problem. The recovery agent who picked up the loan car told me they're having to collect "hundreds" of new Discos with the same problem - anyone else out there having problems?

I only said I took delivery of a new one - didn't say I could afford it!

I want to change my Disco 2 this year, took a Disco 3 out on test it's just full of electronics, even the hand brakes on a switch, don't think its for me.

Like most now models, teething problems start to show up.

I wholeheartedly agree that they've tried to get too clever. I had a TD5 before this which ran for 3 years without any breakdowns. That said, some of the gagetry is quite useful - and even the handbrake isn't too bad when you get used to it. Despite initially hating the electronic brake, my wife now quite likes it as it requires no force to apply/remove.

On the whole it's a great vehicle - but let down by poor reliability at present. I just hope they sort it out - quickly. This new Disco is supposed to have had more pre-release testing than any other production vehicle - I've not seen much evidence of that at present.

I'm not super keen on all the electronics in my Series I Disco. Can't even imagine what the Disco 3 is like.

In retrospect I would probably wait a while to let them sort the problems out - but this was supposed to be the most exhaustively tested production vehicle of all time! Other problems have all been fairly minor niggles (mainly with the technology!). Suspension is the thing to look out for.
