Hi Guys,

Just changed the head gasket on my Disco. All went well apart from I forgot to tighten the Turbo's banjo bolt and had a small oil flood when I started it up ! Dang !

So when I started it today and took it for a run I had loads of white smoke out of the exaust, which cleared, but came back again and a loss of oil. Water was OK ?

Still had a small seepage from Banjo, not sorted.

So, what hav I done wrong or what has happened. ?

Incidently, also removed and blanked the egr at same time.

Cheers,

Don

Tightened bolts again. No white smoke. No loss of water. But seems to have alot of oil coming through intercooler ? Or is it dislodging crap from when it had the egr ?

big oil loss and smoke, sounds like turbo failure, was the head gasket definitely gone? had a fiesta rs turbo once with a cracked exhaust housing on the turbo, fine when cold but couldnt see for smoke once it was warm as the crack opened up and leaked oil straight into the exhaust, smoke was more white than blue because the oil wasnt being burnt as such, just pouring into hot exhaust gases! just a thought, really hope it turns out to be something silly, (cheaper!)

Hi,
Yes gasket had blown. Re tightened all the head bolts and problem solved :)

No pressure in coolant etc... Drained the manky stuff and put fresh coolnant in from asda...... Bad idea,.. frothed like bloody bath foam.,.... Hate blue coolant.. lol.

Nicked mum's car, halford,. pink coolant. Happy Disco !

Just out of interest,.. has anyone alse had a problem with cheap coolant from ASDA ? Or anywhere ?

Dons x
