i'm having an issue with finding out part of the throttle linkage (i think?) looking at the engine bay from the front to the left theres a part similar to the throttle cable but it has a rod going into a box with a pipe the other side of this box which is currently cracked and really dead it was still attached to the box but the other end of this pipe is unclear as it's not attached i need renew this pipe but i really cant find where the hell it goes to lol sorry for the lack of pictures but my camera was dead

another issue im having is the steering box is dead and i'm gonna attempt a refurb before i even venture into getting a reconditioned one as its so expensive!!! the only trouble is i've had to cut the pipe that runs from the top of the box and around to the side to get a spanner on it as an open ended 14mm spanner was literally flexing around the nuts rather than turning the nut so i need a new pipe for that is there a cheap place for these sort of parts? i've found a few places on goggle but they dont seem to have a definative list of all parts :/

also i cant find an oil filter that says it fits the 300tdi so are the 200tdi and 300 tdi the same fitment? as i read up and land rover changed a load of bits on the 300 tdi though it is the same engine as the 200tdi

forgive the questions i'm completely new to these and the only cars i've owned before are vauxhalls which could be almost completely dismantled with 10mm, 13 mm and 17mm spanners lol

also are there any quick fixes for improving the power on these? i'm in the process of a good service but i'd have thought there would be some finer tuning to do on one of these

Hi and welcome..

M&M 4x4, Paddocks, Rimmer Brothers, Island 4x4, APB, any into google for parts.....

Make sure everything is working properly, and then start thinking about checking pipe work for leaks and delamination, cleaning the intercooler (inside).

Try putting you individual questions in the search box.........and have a look in the diesel engine sections in the Engines section..........and be prepared for some silly answers when were in good mood!

Nick.

i don't think you need that many tools for discos lol.

steering box unions are 9/16 and 5/8 ,but 14 and 16mm can fit 2.5 na or td ,v8 ,300 or 200 tdi use err3340 oil filter if you cant find new pipe i have some second hand pipes

i did wonder if it was imperial stuff tbh being a british car i'll have to invest in some imperial spanners (though now ive snapped the pipe :smash: i have the sockets for it )

thank you for all your replies :)

Is in auto that you have? it sounds like you are describing the kick down cable in your first question.
If it is an auto then it will feel underpowered. A good service will help. Some people like to fit a bigger intercooler and tweak the fuel pump

yeah it's an auto, its not fantastically fast tbh, my astra 1.7 td can out gun it easy with an extra person onboard too!! do you know where the pipe goes? i would like to fix the kick down

(edit) think i need to get a pic of said pipe as it may resolve a lot of the mystery of this issue lol

Probably because the Astra has almost as much power, weighs half as much and is only 2WD :)
