Over days the car lost coolant - not much but still.... Today took some time to solve this problem. However didn't follow the workshop manual and just bled the system at the thermostathose and what came out when the pump was removed. The pump looked allright so I decided not to replace it for a new one. The gasket however was in a bad state, explaining the slow loss of fluid. Removing the remainders was a pain-staking munkjob. Took me 1,5 hrs to remove it. Placed the new gasket - no silicones. Replaced the thermostat (Murphy's law dictated this decission) and it took another "age" to mount the clips on the hoses.
For refilling the coolant I lifted the container; filled the container it took approx 5 liters; left the lid off and started the engine; turned the heater on full; filling the container up till the neck. All in all some 9-10 litres went in. After a while the coolant reached the top of the container and airbubbles escaped. After some 20 minutes I got rid of the bubbles and turned off the engine. Whilst cooling down I regularly check the coolant level and filled her up.
No leaks found so far, made a mark on the container to see if coolant is lost overnight.
Not amused by the gasket and the springclips.
