Can anybody advise me on a coolant leak. Its a drip every 10 mins but means I have to top up the coolant once a week with a few pints.

Its dripping from one of the lower pipes coming from the thermostat in a 2001 td5. Seems to be coming from the nut on the metal pipe.

Picture is taken from under the truck.

Have tried to tighten the nut but it is torqued up to its max and i dont want to untighten it to see if its a problem with a washer as i presume all the coolant with flow out.

Anybody any ideas.

Snip...

If it is tightened fully and still leaking you will probably need to remove the bolt, replace the washer and then re-tighten - and yes the coolant will flood out when you undo the nut. You might be able to save most of the coolant with a well paced finger - but I'd use someone elses so you can concentrate on the nut and washer.

Alternatively drain the coolant and then reaplce the nut and washer at your leisure.

Might just drain the system alright and change the coolant too. Is this the coolant drain plug for the system? I know there are two nuts on the engine
block too for draining the system.
