Clutch Problems..

Hello one and all. looking for some help and advice.
I have a '95 disco 300TDI and the clutch pedal has recently been quite stiff and after travelling around 650 miles on tuesday decided to go flat to the floor just 10 miles from my house. Its a hydraulic clutch and the hydraulic reservoir remains full.
Does anyone know the normal causes for this?
The clutch does not slip however i just cant disengage it with the pedal.

Oh dear, sounds like the pivot arm has pierced the clutch fork!
Drop gearbox job or engine out job for a £15 part. It is achievable for the competent diyer you will need lots of extension bars and trolley jacks, will try and find a good link for you.

Check the fluid levels first but pretty sure it's the fork

If the reservoir is still full of fluid,I would try changing the master cylinder first,sounds like it is not pumping.When the fork gets punched thru,the slave rod over travels and the fluid comes out.

Another vote here for a pierced clutch fork. Very common problem.

Here is a way to check before starting to take the gearbox off.

Get underneath, locate the clutch slave cylinder, remove the two retaining bolts and very carefully withdraw the slave cylinder, leaving the push-rod in place.

If the push-rod is sticking out 12mm and it still retained at the inner end, your clutch fork is probably all right. If the push-rod is further into the bell-housing you probably have a pierced clutch fork which will need the gearbox off to replace.

Replace with an HD version, which has a rectangle of additional metal welded-on to reinforce the pivot point
