right, i no landrovers in a out an they can be a pain in the arse to bleed the clutch through, my slave cyl went xmas eve, ive replaced both slave an master but still had sod all clutch, an ive magnaged to look inside the bell house to see the arm is sat right back so its all coming off to fit new clutch grrrr

but my thing is there is the clutch damper bolted onto the slave cyl, im guessing its just to make the clutch on the disco a bit more smoother for every day use?

i dont want it so i guess i can just put the pipe from master cyl onto the slave using a double male pipe adaptor??

anybody else done this?

cheers

i had a similar problem when i changed the clutch slave cylinder spent all day trying to bleed it with no results ,must have used 2 litres of brake fluid trying, until a mate advised me to back bleed the system which i did and instantly got clutch peddle and far easier to bleed as well,i used a rubber tube fitted on one end of a trigger type oil can and the other end of the tube on the slave cylinder nipple undone the cap on the clutch cylinder, loosen the union pipe in front of the clutch master cylinder then press the trigger on the oil an until it seeps out of the union pipe at the master cylinder once it starts seeping lock it up and on the clutch slave cylinder lock the nipple up and try your clutch then it worked for me and its worth a try

Had similar problem on mine until I fitted a new slave cylinder, turns out the pipes were fitted wrong. The fluid must flow into the bottom of the damper and slave and out at the top. Mine was fitted wrongly at the damper with the pipes reversed so I would never bleed properly.

Its been great since I fitted them correctly.

it bleeds through fine, i just want to ditch the damper altogether as its £15 for a new one or 50p for a union.

after removing the box the main pivot point has pushed through the arm, just waiting for the clutch to get here as my mk2 golf is drinking more fuel than the disco haha...
