Hi Guys. Need to pick your Brains, I went out in my 2003 disco td5 this morning for a 10 min journey. I got up to 4th gear and when accelerating the engine rev's increased but it didn't pull as it should, it was as if the clutch was slipping. It also done the same in fifth.
On the way back it was fine. Can anyone give me a clue to what the problem may be? I'm praying it doesn't need a clutch. Cheer's Corkie.

If it were the clutch wouldn't it do it all the time? As for ice, it was wet but I don't think it would spin up at 45/50 mph in fifth.

I agree but, on my way home I took it along the Dual cariageway and drove it hard up through the gears, easing off then powering on again and it was fine. It is definitely not slipping all the time.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not disagreeing with you it could very well be the clutch, but with it not slipping all the time could it be some sort of sensor or something sticking somewhere? Perhaps. Just trying to rule all out, before going down the new clutch route.

Hi got bad news for you its your clutch mine did the same thing it would go for days without sliping the would just do it out the blue when i changed it the plate looked ok its the flywheel that went on mine put a heavy duty in

oh ffs ! - you could have told him it's his clutch sensor that's needing changing, cos that's what he's wanting to hear

A heavy duty clutch is about £80 to 90 as for fitting i did it with a mate if you dont have a pit or ramp its gonna be hard to do the gear box is about 1/4 ton in weight

I must be the Sea air. Thankfully there are more members on here whom are more tolerant of us newbies. How dare I not know what I'm talking about. Try adult friend finder! I think that may be more up your street.
