Hi guys, right cheap git question here. I need new rear X member mounts cos mine have dissolved! I have found the rear X member mounts for sale, but with shipping/vat etc. they cost about 60 quid ish for the pair, which is a lot for someone with nowt. so, being my usual tight-git self, I was wondering can I make 'em? I got donated some 3mm 9*9 inch plate steel (4 of 'em), and tried to find dimensions for the mounts, but no joy. Any ideas (other than stop being tight and save up!:D) Cheers all, and as usual any info is greatly appreciated. :)

i'm in the same position m8...

seems a lot for a couple of bits of tin!!!

mine have pushed up onto cross member..

think i'm gonna jack the body up and plate between mount and cross member a good few inches either side of mount....

then make up some mounts.. just gonna measure whats there and copy...

IS this cacthing mine are the same so I found out this week, lol.

where you looking for them, as i may need to get some for someone to weld in

One boat, and we're all in it, eh? I must say I hadn't thought of trying to copy whats there, but that too is a whole set of problems. I don't know about you 2, but there isn't a lot left of my mounts to copy from. also the disco is my only wheels, and I was hoping to fabricate something before i started jacking it up and more bits fall off! A list of dimensions should be easy to work from. But I can't find any anywhere! Clearly it's a conspiracy, and we're not allowed in on it.....:alien:

Then you buy a pair, and suddenly it's 60 quid, then the X member itself for a grand total of about 200 all in! I can't afford that! I got some angle iron today. I'm gona have a go at making my own X member, and then copy the mounts that are there and see how we go. I'll post pics asap if any one wants to see.

No,mine were £9 each,18 the pair, delivered. This was a couple of years ago,2 at most.Tried to find seller but couldnt, sorry !If you look at all the picks you can find you will see that there is more to them than you would think, like a double layer on the face ith the big circle cut out.I have one on the shelf, would you like me to try photo it with a ruler in view,or post dimensions? It may take a couple of days to do but if you really need it..........

If you could photo or recall who you bought from, that would be very cool. I'm fairly handy with most things, but fully admit i'm new to metal work, so if there's some magic retailer that does 'em at a decent price' then they'll be gettin' plenty 'o trade from us lot! :D
