Hi everyone, done a search but can't find what I need. I've got the tell tale full lock cracking noise so I'm pretty sure the CV joint has gone as the wheel bearings are deffo sound. A few questions then, how hard are the cv joints to change? I've had all the hubs off before and I'm handy with a spanner, any special tools required? Also do you need to change both sides at the same time? Or can just one be done? Any advice would be great, taking landy upto lake district next week so need it sorting. Thanks all

you do them independantly of each other, remove hub and stub axle ,pull cv and half shaft out ,knock cv off halfshaft ,refit new one while pushing clip on shaft in with screw driver working around clip, refit

Thanks for the reply James. So am I right in thinking that I don't need to open the swivel pin housing? Are there any gaskets or seals required except for end cap gasket? Or can I just buy the cv joint on it's own? It's just that I've seen cv joint "kits" that come with all new seals for swivel pin housing?

you sure done a search..... of course you have!:doh::doh:

busters guides have a how to in there with pics and everything

Cheers for that, I dint even know busters guides existed, they're very good. In his guide he says he fitted a new half shaft, what's the chances of mine being fubar? Or are they usually ok? Last question, I promise

usually okay ,you will need some rtv silicone as gasket ,paper gaskets arent used after 93/94 ,just get cv on its own dont need to touch swivel housing
