Central locking

Hi can anyone help when I lock my disco it all locks when I open it again all the locks open all except the passenger door can anyone advise what this could be I have a discovery on a 2003 es thanks

You have an iffy unlocking actuator (servo) in that lock, bad news is you will require a replacement lock.

Its fairly easy to replace and they seem to go after a few years. You can buy the actuator for around £80 on Ebay. Have a look at www.discovery2.co.uk

When you lock and unlock have an assistant watch the small interior lock button.

If it rises and then drops slightly, you may have to repair / replace the lock mechanism, as the spring is bu$$ered.

I think the spring only applies to the disco 1

I have had to replace all 4 now on mine. It's not that hard, allow about an hour. You will need some torx bits as well (the star shaped ones) so make sure you have some before you start.

The reason it's failing is because the lock has 2 motors. The superlock and the normal one. The normal one has failed so on locking with the remote it's superlocking which forces a lock, but unlocking only removes the superlock and the second (faulty) motor does the unlocking. You can verify this by trying to lock with the button on the dash. You will see that does not lock the door.

Faulty lock springs is only a D1 issue.
