ive seen discoverys with the steering controls behind the steering wheel and now because i work at halfrauds i do know that you can get stalk control leads so that they work with a new radio but i really want to know if you can add these buttons and get the wiring?

Think I've seen them on the ebay, I know you can add the cruise control buttons so why not the stereo remote
not sure how you fit them I'll have a look later.
i'm the opposite way need to get the harness as i've changed the stereo in mine and would like to use the steering wheel controls.

it is something i really want i may have to go to some scrappers and see if i can remove the wirring from one it should be hard i suppose and its shame u live in hertfordshire id of got u discount at halfrauds for the harness but still wouldnt of been cheap but i do go to hertfordshire every couple of months lol

I asked a while ago in Halfords about getting the adaptor for the steering wheel controls, was told that there wasn't one for a discovery TD5, really wanted one so I could put a new head unit in and plug the ipod in.

I had a run in with the branch near me was gonna change the head unit in the disco the in it now is from the freelander i had this was when i had 2 cars.

was asking about units with rear usb and i was told by the lass that no company made them with usb in the rear. While she was talking above her right shoulder was a JVC in red and white writing was rear usb..

I said to her that the Blaupunkt system in my freelander that was outside was a figment of my imagination then.. even offered to show her.

I emailed their complaints place.
anyway I got Blaupunk mp3 hooked up to a 40 gig hard drive and all my albums are on it. it's on random bloody ace

Might be an idea to say what vehicle your are referring to and it's year?

haha alot of people at halfrauds just make alot of **** up stay away from the sat nav area they will always try and sell it to ya with a case lol so will be forceful and tell you lies lol

haha

in the email of complaint. Iacually used the line about the system in my car.
Last thing I got in there was a set of the wiper refills.

our branch I think they should call it Modfrauds just seems to be Lexus style lights all that sort of stuff to mod up your corsa or them types of motors

not been able to find any thing in the parts cat about the steering controls only other thing i can think of is see if they do a stalk remote for that stereo I think Sony did something like that but keep looking

ahh ive been into the hertford one as soon as i asked for a red bulb they said is it for lexus lights i said no its for a clear brake light on a disco lol
id love to have a go of a td5 just to see what they drive like compared to the 300 i own how long you had it like?

Be a year in April
had the egr bypass done on it and might do the decat pipe and might get a snorkel for it see how it goes

lads, the head unit is ****ing 8 inches away. the remotes are designed for yanks who cant be arsed to move their arm off the gear lever.

man the **** up and push the f==king buttons on the head unit

i changed my headunit and turned my dash control buttons (disco1) into horn buttons.

why you have to be like this discoboy i basically only want them to neaten up the dashboard from blank buttons and because when im driving i can keep my eyes on the road aswell

Hi DM, the reason why I asked what model/year of Disco you have is that it has a bearing on what advice I would offer you.

The steering wheel controls on a Disco TD5 are excellent in my view and well worth having. The binnacle radio controls on a Disco TDi are, imo, rubbish as they are unreliable and inconsistent how they operate and also out of line of site.

I reckon Discoboy is about right in terms of the needs to have these poor controls on a D1 - they will not help you to keep your eyes on the road and be a safe driver, quite the contrary.
