Bumper Tail Lights Not Working 300TDI

i have a 1996 300 TDI and my bumper tail lights are not working one had gone for a while just thought it was bulb then came to replace them both yesterday and now both dont want to work does anyone have any ideas?? thanks

Check the pins in the connector on the back of the bulb holder, one of mine had corroded away, also have to fitted correct bulbs silly question i know but you'd be suprised how common.

A voltmeter on the electrical connections would be a good check too. Then depeding on what the reading is, tracing the fault in the lamp unit itself/bulb holder etc or tracing the wiring upwards. If the body mounted lights work, then there isn't that much length of cable to check.
