I have a 98 disco 1 v8,

The usual has happened to the front bumper when at a pay and play site, The lower bumper valance fell off,

Also one of the end caps came off,

I was out laneing the other day and one of the rear ones broke off,

Mot is due this week, and was thinking it might fail due to the end caps not being fitted,

What are my options ? I dont want to spend hundreds on new h/d bumpers, or buy more end caps for them to break off again !

Any ideas/ pictures of what you guys have done ?

Mines passed the last two MOT's with no valence or end caps on the front bumper.

I would ask the MOT tester in advance if I were you, he should tell you if he'd pass it or not, that's what I did when it was due for it's first MOT with me. I've removed all the rear seats and he said he wouldn't pass it as he can't test the seatbelts, I argued that there are no seats and no seatbelts receivers in which to plug the rear seatbelts in too so they are obviously not for use, he said either fit the seats and receivers, or remove the belts or it will fail.. Good job I went to ask

; )

Il ring them up and ask me thinks,
They are a small place that are pretty fair on things, the chap at mm 4x4 reckons they will just advise.

no end caps can be a fail for the mot, but there is a quick fix too.

Start by cutting the bottoms off your end caps in line with the bottom of the bumper (there is a line to follow on the cap already) and if you have ripped the screws out of the end cap that came off then just drill through with a small drill (think i used 5 or 6mm iirc). Then using the original mounts just fit it back on to the bumper end with a long thin bolt.

Job done :)

Thats what i think i will do, put the back one back on and find a front one, trim the bottoms off.

Think you should advise your tester to read the manual.
No rear seats, the rear seat belts aren't testable even if they are fitted.
