Ive got my new brake pipes with new nuts for rear calipers but not sure how to bend the soft copper pipe without kinking it. The pipe has to make a U bend where it connects to the caliper. Whats the best way to do it ?

I thought so :) Ive not seen one that will do a pipe that size. My mate said he just bends them and the copper is soft enough to do it without kinking, but I,m not so sure

I have a small pipe bender that i use as part of my job (plumber)

It does microbore tubing from memory i think its 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm.

They are freely available from b&q etc and are cheap as chips

You could borrow mine if you are near?

No need for a pipe bender mate

Just get a big socket set or some pieces of tube - you can carefully bend copper brake pipe around a socket without problems. Choose the correct size socket for the bend radius you want.

I must warn you, it is a very satisfying job!!

I just bend it and have never had any problems so far - for a U-bend I'd probably wrap it round my thumb/hand/wrist depending upon what size I wanted.

When I replaced all mine I was in same boat
found that hozelock hose pipe connectors, (other connectors are available) were brilliant for the job
Same size as a socket but had channels round it to keep the pipe from twisting

Just got the pipes and calipers on. I just bent the soft pipe round a small socket held in the vice. Thanks for the tip :) I bled the system and so far no leaks. I had to give one of the nuts an extra couple of nips to effect a seal. One of the discs had a score in it where the old pad had slipped down onto it. The disc itself looks in good nick. Do you think it will be ok to leave it for now ?

If it's new fresh tube it will bend once - if it's old and hardened it could kink. If you bend it more than once there is a chance of kinking.

All depends on how tight a 180 you have to make.
