Boot door only opening with Key

Hi All

Got my discovery last night 1995 300tdi 5 door, there was a problem with the boot lock in that it only opens with the key but it does shut then stays locked, handle inside is just loose it doesnt work the mechanism. Obviously got some knocked off because of it and as it was great in all other ways went for it. Any ideas whether it might be something simple?

i had the same with mine, mine was the lock spring had snapped

It's a very common problem and is usually resolved by replacing a small spring in the lock mechanism.

What "thebiglad" said! Happened to mine in the summer. I replaced the springs in the front doors as well (3dr disco) as I figured they would be the same age and knowing my luck would go soon after the back door!
