I have a 1993 3 door 200tdi and have found that a vent inside the D pillar on the right hand side has been blowing dust into the vehicle. The vent has a mesh cover with flaps that should work as one-way valves, but these have failed.

There are no rear seats in the vehicle and airflow into the back is not needed so I was going to block it off, but will this cause other problems that I need to address?

Also, the vehicle doesn't have aircon, but my wife would like one so I'm interested in how to go about retro-fitting one. I would need someone else to do the work as I don't have the skill, but would it be a case of finding and swapping the parts out of a wreck, or are there too many differences?

Cheers

The only problem with blocking the outlet vents you describe is that it will probably reduce the ventilation air flow thro the car. As in air in the front out thro the back.
In wet or cold weather it would probably result in misting/condensation on all the windows.
As for retrofit ac it can be done but a bit of a job, I'd personally buy another car with it already fitted:)

Thanks for that, a very good point about condensation. I'll make up a new one-way valve or dust filter to allow air flow.

Re buying a new Disco, I've only just got this one after years of longing and if I did get another I'd probably have to sleep in it!:(

Cheers

It will be cheaper to buy one with air con already fitted.
As for the vents you could put somthing like a scotchbrite pad over to act as a filter.
